Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Intramural Sports Club Coordinator for Rutgers Recreation. This position reports to the Associate Director for Intramurals, the Intramural Coordinator provides leadership and direction for the general intramural program and campus based special events offered on the 5 campuses in New Brunswick and Piscataway, a program that historically serves over 6500 unique student users per year.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: · Develops, implements, and evaluates all intramural programs and services designed to assist in the formation of smaller student communities and to meet the needs of student body as a whole. · Recruits, hires, trains and mentor's students (90+) to assist with the delivery of these programs. · Provides student leadership opportunities within the area and is responsible for developing a leadership training program to foster these opportunities. · Responsible for the equipment budget and all administrative duties assigned to the Intramural area. · Develops collaborative alliances with other departments within the Student Affairs Division and within the Academic community thereby enhancing our programming efforts. · Assists in the development and implementation of the department's age group summer camp designed to generate revenue
Minimum Education and Experience:
· Requires a bachelor's degree in sports management, physical education or recreation and at least 2 years' experience overseeing a large, diverse sports program, training and mentoring college students in leadership roles, and developing and implementing special events; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Current Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED is required. · Must have in-depth knowledge of sport liability and risk management, officiating, special event production, teambuilding, and community development. · Must be able to get certified as an instructor in Red Cross CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of employment. · Must have a valid/current driver's license and have access to a car at all times. · Must be able to work evenings and weekends when assigned. · Must secure the University's defensive driving certificate within 30 days of employment.
· A Master's degree in sports management, physical education or recreation is preferred. · Two years' experience teaching officiating courses is preferred. Officiating certifications from recognized sports governing organizations a plus.
· Must have knowledge of the following software: IM leagues, Do Sports Easy, Fusion.
