Summary: The Director, Compensation is responsible for the strategy and design of the company's compensation programs as well as, working on project bases, analysis, critical thinking, input and assistance about the design and redesign of those programs. The Director, Compensation is responsible for implementing compensation strategies and solutions to support business needs and drive business results. Additionally the Director, Compensation provides compensation guidance and support to leaders and colleagues.

As Compensation Business Partner, you will be a member of a qualified and dynamic total rewards team within a professional and strategic HR group. You will be responsible for a wide variety of activities relating to compensation within the company. The emphasis of this position will be hands-on, intensive, compensation work, with the support of the Compensation Analyst. Drawing on your vast compensation knowledge and experience, you will have the opportunity to help to build compensation programs and systems both initially and during a period of anticipated growth. This fast-paced position is very challenging, requiring strong analytical, mathematics, Microsoft Office and compensation skills, supervisory experience, and the right character to work with a highly driven team. The right person must be self-motivated, sometimes working independently under the guidance and direction of the VP of Total Rewards. You, as Director, Compensation, will play one of three key managerial roles in the Total Rewards Department, along with your counterpart in Benefits, the well-being program manager, and the VP of Total Rewards, to whom you both report and who reports to the top HR leader in the organization, the CHRO.
Designs and Implements the organization's compensation strategy so that outcomes meet current and future business needs and are consistent with the organization's desired internal and external market position.
Design and implement compensation programs to meet objectives with regards to internal equity and external market competitiveness. These programs may include: job evaluation; salary administration; short-term and sales incentive plans; expatriate compensation; executive compensation; workers compensation; salary packaging.
Analyze and evaluate external market data and internal data about the current and projected employee population to develop salary budgets and forecasts.
Participates in strategic compensation projects which may involve customized revision, development and/or re-design of existing compensation programs, and helps to design and implement any special or new compensation programs to support company objectives.
Administers the company's compensation and performance management process, including merit, annual incentive and performance management.
Partners with sales in designing, implementing and governing sales commission plan
Partners with sales, finance and implementation teams to strategically align compensation pay in alignment with profitable onsite business
Designs and develops innovative incentive compensation plans to support a reward for performance philosophy.
Identifies, develops and implements compensation pay practices throughout the organization for corporate and field based positions
Researches and resolves issues in light of company policies, historical practices, similar situations, government regulations, etc.
Maintains, uses and participates in compensation surveys.
Reviews and recommends salary placements for new hires as requested and otherwise assists with the recruiting and new hire process.
Assists with communications relating to compensation.
Ensures that compensation programs comply with established policies, guidelines, processes and procedures as well as government wage and hour and other regulations.
Partners with HRIS to obtain data necessary for compensation analysis and other activities.
Additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned from time-to-time.
Experience building a new compensation system as a result of a merger of companies, or substantially restructuring a compensation system at an existing company, is a big plus.
Bachelor's degree in HR, accounting, finance, mathematics or related field.
Strong ability to partner, consult and communicate with other HR team members and management, including Business HR, Recruiting, Team Member Relations and Performance Management.
Familiarity with local, state and federal employment and wage and hour laws as well as basic employee relations principles and practices.
Experience working with executive compensation and SEC compensation (large public company) disclosures and practices is a plus.
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Ability to conduct research, analyze information and data and present findings in a concise format.
Experience building strong working relationships with business leaders.

Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills required in order to communicate and present across all levels within the organization

Proficient at an intermediate level with standard office software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with UltiPro is a plus.
Ability to prepare written reports for varied audiences.
Ability to closely adhere to policies, practices and procedures.
Comfortable working in a business casual environment that requires flexibility and at various times working autonomously.
10+ years'solid, hands-on experience in the corporate human resources department of a 1000+ employee corporation or with a consulting firm advising clients of that size, working specifically on the analysis, design and administration of compensation programs, including (but not limited to) incentive programs, survey management, job analysis and pricing using survey data while factoring in internal equity considerations, and establishing and updating compensation bands/ranges.
At least two years'supervisory experience.
