Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth and families in the Washington DC area. The agency includes 20 programs, including street outreach and shelter for runaway and homeless youth, transitional housing, and counseling and support services to ensure young people get back on their feet and succeed in life.
The Major Gifts Officer is a new position designed to strengthen SBY's ability to fulfill its mission through increased revenue from individuals, corporations and private foundations. The Major Gift Officer will identify, qualify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors, expanding their financial support of SBY and its mission and programs. He/she will be responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with a portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization and assist donors in creating meaning in their lives through giving to SBY.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement new major donor strategy for individuals, corporations, and foundations giving $10,000 and more, in collaboration with board members, executive staff, and Development office staff.
Manage portfolio of major donors and participate in all aspects of the giving cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal.
Support the Executive Director and Board Members to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
Create mailings, leave-behinds, and other documents to educate and cultivate major donors about giving to SBY.
Assist the special events staff with high-level individual and corporate sponsorship opportunities and requests.
Work with Development staff to develop cultivation strategies for mid-level donors who may become major donors in the future.
