: We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Electrical Sciences Group\. In this role, you will be a key member of the Center 1300 management team and will have the opportunity to build strategies that bring state\-of\-the\-art physical science to bear on Sandia's national security missions\. Sandia looks to our basic and applied research to bring innovation and understanding that strengthens Sandia as a forefront science and technology institution for the nuclear weapons program, as well as with many external organizations such as NNSA, DOE, DTRA, DoD, and AWE\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Coordinate the Electrical Sciences research program and be a leader in the Advanced Simulation and Computing and Directed Stockpile Work programs+ Perform program development roles including participation on LDRD Investment Area Teams, and business development inside and outside the nuclear deterrence program+ Serve as the technical representative for Sandia's Electromagnetic technical work within the Engineering Sciences research foundation as well as with outside stakeholders \(e\.g\. Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center, Global Strike Command, and DTRA\)+ Assure continuous improvement of a strong safety culture+ Assure safe activity\-level work through conduct of operations, not only in the major facilities managed and operated by 1350, but also work conducted in other facilities such as HERMES\.+ Oversee activities that involve the creation and application of scientific theories and laws and engineering methods used within scientific and engineering disciplines to develop or demonstrate new designs, concepts, materials, machines, products, processes, or systems Required: + PhD in physics, electrical engineering, computer science or a closely related technical field, and a strong record of scientific and/or technical achievement+ Ten years' related experience+ Five years' managerial experience+ Experience managing modeling and simulation R&D that leads to successful delivery+ Experience managing experimental research capabilities+ Experience developing strategy, plans, and implementation of new science & engineering programs+ Experience with successful program development with internal external customers and partners \(government, university, industry\)+ Experience working with NW program areas, including weapon lifetime extension and alteration programs+ Experience leading a complex, highly diverse technical organization that requires partnering across multiple organizations for successful delivery+ Experience with leadership and mentoring abilities for development of managers and a management team+ Current, active Q clearance+ Ability to obtain SCI clearance Desired: + Current, active SCI clearance+ History of technical innovation in electromagnetic radiation effects, plasma/device/circuit simulation through high performance computing, and nuclear weapons research+ Knowledge and experience in high voltage breakdown sciences\.+ Knowledge and experience in the design of advanced power supplies and controls+ Experience managing hazardous high bay and light laboratories involving electromagnetic radiation, high voltage, vacuum systems, pressurized gas and fluid systems+ Experience in project management and agile processes+ Experience working with the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration; the Department of Defense, including the USAF Nuclear Weapons Center and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency; the Intelligence Community; and the UK Atomic Weapons Establishment Department Description: The Electrical Sciences Group advances the science, engineering, and computer simulation needed to predict and control the generation, transport and interaction of electrical energy in complex engineered systems\.
