Under general supervision of the Director, Aircraft Maintenance provides aircraft maintenance to university based and transient aircraft. Reports to Director, Aircraft Maintenance.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Function as an airframe and powerplant maintenance specialist under the direction of and with assistance from the Director, Aircraft Maintenance.
Perform FAA required inspections and repairs on departmental and private aircraft as instructed by the Director, Aircraft Maintenance with minimal supervision.
Instruct aviation maintenance students as assigned by the Director, Aircraft Maintenance.
Complete, record and file aircraft maintenance records, under the direction of the Director, Aircraft Maintenance per established procedures.
Maintain work related documents, FAA regulations, aircraft service bulletins, service letters, and aircraft manuals as assigned to the aircraft maintenance office.
Maintain orderly and clean maintenance facilities, in the best interest of safety.
Perform ancillary functions relative to the operation of the department’s fleet, including, but not limited: towing aircraft, ground deicing, aircraft cleaning, fueling, hangaring and security as instructed by the Director, Aircraft Maintenance.
Maintain ground support equipment and physical facilities, as assigned.
Assist in the physical stocking of parts in inventory.
Train and direct student or temporary employees. Participate in training new employees.
Operate ground support equipment as required.
Perform related duties as required.
High School diploma/GED. A minimum of three years of inspection, maintenance, and repair of single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certified by the Federal Aviation Administration or equivalent experience maintaining aircraft (ex. Military experience maintaining aircraft).
License/Certification: Federal Aviation Administration Aircraft Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings with Inspection Authorization issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Valid Ohio driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: 5 or more years’ previous experience maintaining single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft. Applicants holding a minimum Federal Aviation Administration Private Pilot Certificate are preferred. Federal Aviation Administration FAR Part 145 certified repair station experience preferred.
Skill In: Mechanics, use and calibration of tools, troubleshooting techniques Operating ground equipment
