Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Director of Leadership Gifts is a senior fundraising and management position. The focus is on raising restricted and unrestricted gifts, integrating planned giving and special project funding into core operating support (exhibits, education, scientific research) and the Academy's endowment from over 1,000 individual donors. Also, the Director is integral to developing strategies to solicit and secure significant gifts for the Academy's cross-functional and forwarding-thinking "Big Idea" initiatives.

The Director of Leadership Gifts oversees a department of up to six staff and directly supervises three individuals: Director, Gift Planning; Associate Director, Major Gifts; and Associate Director, Individual Gifts. You will manage a portfolio of 65-70 major donors and prospects and works closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, Development Directors, Executive Director, Trustees, volunteers, and senior staff members to steward and solicit significant contributions and integrate planned gifts as part of donor strategies.
