Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan is pleased to announce a senior-level search for an Executive Director of Global Engagement. The Executive Director will provide oversight for the Office of International Education, the International Students and Scholars Office and the ESL Institute, while leading efforts to increase international student recruiting, promote international research collaborations, engage international alumni and guide the campus-wide internationalization process.
Position Purpose: To lead and direct the Office of Global Engagement. To lead the university community in creating and advancing a vision for international education. To create plans and strategies to help with the university’s efforts to engage in globally focused research and provide opportunities for students to participate in immersive, cross-cultural experiences. To expand the university’s global collaborations with international partners, business, government and non-profits to identify needs and solutions that leverage university scholarship, expertise and resources.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in International Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Ten years experience in a leadership role in international programs, including international students and scholars, study abroad and foreign exchange, and English language programs. In-depth knowledge and understanding of documentation and visa application processes. Experience in recruiting, retaining, and providing services to international students and scholars. Excellent communication skills. Commitment to the mission of global education and learning.
Desired Qualifications: PhD. Broad strategic view of best practices and future direction in global education. Experience working collaboratively with a broad array of campus constituents and international partners to accomplish goals. Ability to select and mentor an effective professional staff. Experience in grant writing. Record of working effectively across a complex, decentralized organization. Strong commitment to diversity.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation commensurate with education and experience.
