Reporting to the Director of International Student & Scholar Services, the International Student and Scholar Services Advisor serves international students' needs and provides federally required tracking and advising of F visa holders. The position assists the University, Kearney Center for International Student and Scholar Services, and international students with matters related to the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Reporting and handling vital advising for international students for legal work authorization due to internships, graduation, economic and political events are a major focus of the position. In addition, the position advises students regarding their adjustment and other cultural and international student issues along with special requirements needed by students matriculating under unique government and sponsoring contracts.
Master's degree in Counseling, International Education, Student Affairs or a closely related field. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
Minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional experience (or the equivalent) as a Designated School Official (DSO) in a higher education institution and responsibility for advising international students. (In order to serve in as a DSO, you must either be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.)
