This FULL-TIME Radiation therapy position is performed by a registered radiation therapist who delivers care to the patient in a therapeutic setting and are responsible for administration of a prescribed course of radiation therapy, under the direct supervision of the Radiation Oncologist. Listens to patient requests and anticipates patient's needs.
Communicates with radiation oncologist, physicist, dosimetrist, and medical oncology team regarding any change in patient condition or treatment matters. Observes patient for side effects and skin reactions.
Review patient treatment parameters and treatment plan prior to initiation of first treatment. Schedules imaging, on treatment visits, simulations, TLD's, or special treatment considerations as prescribed.
Implement and deliver accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy utilizing megavoltage equipment, adhering to acceptable departmental, institutional government and professional standards.
Check daily treatment parameters and maintain electronic treatment records in ARIA and EPIC systems.
Assist in tumor localization simulation procedure utilizing CT scanner under the direction of radiation oncologist. Provides timely and appropriate documentation of positioning with tattoos, photographs, and diagrams when necessary.
Prepare immobilization and beam modifying devices in preparation for simulation or treatment according to departmental policies and procedures.
Perform patient related and clerical functions such as patient schedules, statistic, image review, and ensures appropriate billing documentation for all aspects of work performed on a daily basis. Ensures proper charge activity capture for all procedures.
Completes basic monitor unit calculations in the absence of dosimetrist or physicist.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school for Radiation Therapy.
Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and registration must be current.
Current AHA BLS certification
Previous experience in Radiation Therapy.
