The Business Analyst will support the information needs of University faculty, staff, and administrators by working with the Business Process Owners creating and maintaining financial related solutions that support business processes and management decisions in central, collegiate, and departmental units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities with % of time: 30% - Production Support: - Collect and document business and/or system requirements - Fix production related issues, business process or system related errors within assigned module responsibility. - Lead planning sessions with client to map-to-be process and create change management plan. - Respond to normal and elevated application maintenance requests. Escalate unsolved issues to appropriate group or personnel. - Assist clients in implementing business process improvements; research and analyze best practices and current processes to propose process improvement initiatives; create measurements to analyze the business outcomes of process improvement initiatives. - Establish and manage the relationship with business partners 30% - Analysis, Functional Design: - Work with BPOs to identify, understand and execute business requirements - Work with end users to identify and document business requirements for reporting - Represents any and all effort to resolve issues that require a significant amount of time to analyze - Analyze business requirements to define as-is process. - Create and interpret functional and/or technical designs
30% - Testing: - Execute testing based on detailed test scripts; document and report test results. - Create and execute testing to compare test results to defined specifications; document and report test results and/or propose solutions. - Create and execute comprehensive test plans to identify potential defects and risks, document test results and propose solutions.
10% - Special Projects: This comprises all activities/projects that could be considered one off or possibly cyclical. Examples of this are: - Application Upgrade Planning and Execution - Fiscal Year End Processing - Related Business Process Software Implementation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • BA/BS degree in MIS or closely related field and two years professional business or systems process analysis experience or a BA/BS in a non-related field and four years experience in business or systems process analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Strong technical skills and aptitude including familiarity with development processes and methodology.
- Previous experience working in an analyst capacity with PeopleSoft, SAP, or other enterprise financial systems.
- Excellent understanding of information needed to support business processes and decisions. - Strong documentation skills - Ability to make presentations to internal and external audiences. - Excellent business analysis skills and ability to identify innovative solutions to operational issues. - Previous employment experience in higher education, government, or a public entity is a plus
