The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, anticipates filling the TERM (full-time) position of Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, beginning on 25 June 2018 and terminating on 30 June 2021. Subsequent re-appointments will be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability. This position is in the excepted civil service.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate behavioral science courses; directing or managing courses by preparing supporting documents and reports such as syllabi, grade reports, and course assessment reports; preparing and grading examinations, papers, or labs; facilitating cadet research activities embedded within an academic course or offered for academic credit; advising students on appropriate courses or research activities consistent with their academic goals; and promoting a behavioral science curriculum and research to students and stakeholders at department hosted events.
Salaries are competitive, include a cost-of-living adjustment, and also cover non-teaching summer months.
An earned Doctoral degree (completed by employment start date) in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or Leadership (with a demonstrated record of the empirical study of modern leadership theory), or a closely related field in Psychology. They must have teaching experience in the respective discipline at the undergraduate level. Candidates should be willing to regularly teach introductory undergraduate courses in one or more of these disciplines and to mentor undergraduate research.
