The University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is now accepting applications for the position of Director of Sports Nutrition. This position will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of nutritional services for varsity student-athletes within the department, to include, but not limited to, working closely with Mizzou personnel as well as outside consultants and/or vendors in a collaborative effort to provide the highest quality performance and medical nutrition. Additional responsibilities to include: Supervising one or more sports dieticians; managing 15-20 student volunteer interns; developing and maintaining a Graduate Assistant program utilizing the MS-RD campus program; conducting individual and team nutrition counseling and education sessions; developing effective, sports-specific nutrition presentations and handout materials for student-athletes; plan and implement nutritional recovery process for select teams; test and evaluate student-athletes body composition using DXA; serve as a resource/consultant to individuals assigned to coordinate, implement pre- and post-competition, and travel meals; oversee menu planning for Athletic Dining Hall; maintain ongoing communication with coaching staff, athletic performance staff, athletic trainers, team physicians, mental health staff, compliance, dining hall and athletic administration regarding nutritional issues affecting the student-athletes; assists with research, evaluation and recommendation of appropriate nutritional supplements in regards to NCAA rules, regulations and nutrition related governance; develop, manage and oversee nutrition related policies and procedures; actively participate in various intradepartmental committees; oversee ordering, inventory, vendor relationships, procurement of goods and payment for purchases; oversee, train and evaluate sports nutrition staff to include team sports dietician and sport nutrition assistants and interns; develop work schedules and provide program education. Must possess experience in sports nutrition, exercise physiology and foodservice; Must be a Registered Dietician with 3-5 years experience, preferably in college athletics; Must possess strong computer knowledge, communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills and have the ability to lead and work in a multi-disciplinary enviroment. Must have a high level of practical, sports-specific nutrition knowledge and experience. Should be well versed in all aspects of Body Composition Analysis, Performance Nutrition, Medical Nutrition and Disordered Eating. Should have experience facilitating food services and maintaining a budget. Must have experience with individualized nutrition counseling as well as group nutrition planning. Must be able to supervise employees in an effective and objective manner and be capable of problem solving and conflict resolution. Must be able to work in collaboration with sports medicine staff, athletic performance staff and sport coaches to create an optimal health and performance enviroment. Must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours of early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
