We are looking for an intern to be part of the ILS Proprietary team in NY. The ILS Proprietary team is responsible for the management and trading of the Swiss Re proprietary portfolio of catastrophe bonds, Industry Loss Warranties and Catastrophe Derivatives. The role will be working directly with the team's Head as well as collaborating with other functions and departments including underwriting, catastrophe perils, legal, and risk management teams. The ILS Proprietary team's mandate is to create economic profit through risk taking and actively managing the portfolio through trading. In addition, the team is providing the Group with up to date market information and trends. A successful candidate must be able to work at a high standard on their own as well as in a collaborative setting.
Tasks to be performed could include:
Assist with the analysis of catastrophic risk of specific trades and deals
Assist with compilation of trading data, pricing information and bond reports
Assist with clean up and optimization of various spreadsheets used by the desk
Liaise with middle office, back office, risk management for various process-related tasks

About the team

The ILS Proprietary team's mandate is to create economic profit through risk taking and actively managing the portfolio through trading.The team is composed of two members working on a variety of tasks in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment. The team's Head has more than 10 years' experience in ILS and overall 13 years in the reinsurance industry.
