Porchlight, Chicago’s home for music theatre, is launching the 23rd season in its new home as an Artist In-Residence at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts in Chicago’s Gold Coast. This bold move follows several years of growth for the company which saw a near-doubling of the subscriber base and a tripling of the annual budget to approximately $1.7 million, with an accompanying expansion of the volume and scope of Porchlight Music Theatre programming. These success factors pointed to the need for a larger capacity venue that would still retain the intimate approach for which our musical productions are known, as we work to expand our audience and supporter base for future seasons.
It’s an exciting time to be a part of Porchlight Music Theatre, working toward our goal of being one of Chicago’s flagship theatre institutions. With our track record of successful growth and artistic excellence, we enjoy an energized staff and board, zero debt, and cash in reserves. To capitalize on our move to Ruth Page and our fiscal stability, this summer we recalibrated and expanded the development and program staff, enhanced our community outreach and education programming, wealth-screened a 1,000-donor file with 38% having major gift capacity, and implemented a new dynamic CRM database that integrates development and box office functions. Porchlight is in an amazing place for a full-time Development Director to join our team and have the resources, support and opportunities to be successful.
Porchlight seeks a motivated and experienced individual to create and implement the annual strategic development plan for the organization, refining a structure for effective fundraising to meet the organization’s current and future financial needs in a sustainable and consistent way. With a specific focus on individual and major gifts, the Development Director fosters relationships with existing and potential individual donors, funders, corporate sponsors, and other public/private organizations in an effort to advance the mission and vision of PMT. The Development Director directly supervises the Development Associate and indirectly supervises the Institutional Advancement Director with foundation and government support, and the Audience & Events Director on fundraising events.
