The Treasury Services (TS) Product Risk Management function, part of the TS/IS EMEA Product Risk team, independently identifies, assesses and ensures that risks facing the business (operational, fiduciary, reputational, credit, and market) are appropriately managed across products, client segments and legal entities. As second line of defence, TS/IS Product Risk Management provides independent oversight and challenge to ensure that all businesses:
Evaluate and factor risk-reward appetite considerations into business decisions
Identify and resolve control gaps at root cause level to proactively manage inherent risks.
Remediate risk issues in an effective and timely manner in accordance with appropriate Policy and Guidelines
This Product Risk Manager position is critical to identifying, assessing and proactively managing the risks owned by the Treasury Services business.
Primary responsibilities include:
Independent assessment of complex new deals, New Business Initiatives (NBIs); and ABIAs
Risk coverage of select products and major initiatives as required, e.g. intraday liquidity project and Global Payments Strategy
Leadership and partnership with other Risk colleagues and functional partners (Legal, Compliance, Controllers, Audit, ORO, IRM) to ensure consistent and efficient risk management framework and approach across functions.
Recommend and implement actions to mitigate risks in crisis scenarios;
Effective collaboration with business and functional colleagues to ensure a consistent and rigorous approach to risk management frameworks and practices, including developing and maintaining risk policies;
Thought leadership and risk advisory to enable the business to develop an appropriate balance between risk and reward.
Identify credit risk control gaps in relation to existing and new product offerings, e.g. credit risk reporting system, risk policy and guideline enhancements as well as legal agreement gaps;
Track key risk issues and initiatives by maintaining engagement and awareness of changing business priorities.
Promote a best practice culture and knowledge sharing within the product risk team and the LOB's
Key Qualities Required
Experienced risk manager with strong analytical skills, preferably with a strong credit risk management background, ideally with experience in cash management structures and products
Ability to challenge and communicate effectively with key business stakeholders to articulate the independent risk view
Proficient in reviewing and understanding legal agreements and legal protections
Ability to successfully lead/execute collaborative efforts and build relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, skill sets and priorities, including Compliance, Legal, Sales Teams, Product Development, Relationship Managers, Audit and Operations.
Excellent influencing and communication skills, both written and verbal
