Candidate will also provide support to the Financial Close and will lead/direct audit support. Candidate will need to develop both technical and accounting expertise of the Claim Accounting process. Candidate will work with and provide support to other Financial Reporting and Regulatory areas, as well as other internal and external customers.Primary Responsibilities: Support the systematic processing of, and integrity of, Claim Financial Data from upstream source systems through our Claim Accounting Application, and to downstream sourcesEnsure Financial Controls between our Claim Accounting Application and upstream sources, along with downstream Financial Systems and the General Ledger are sound and working properlyManage the Monthly Financial Close from a Claim Accounting perspectiveOversee and direct our team in support of the Annual Claim Accounting Audit and provide support and direction for other internal and external auditsFunction as Claim Accounting Financial SME to help resolve production issues and support development effortsPromote financial data integrity, compliance and auditability of the financial systemsIdentify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problemsProvide Claim SME assistance to finance and accounting teams across all segmentsOversee 1099 claim platform submissions to the UHG Tax Department
Required Qualifications:Bachelor degree in Accounting and/or Finance5+ years of experience working within an accounting department and improving/automating accounting processes and reconciliations1-2 years of managerial experience and able to give guidance and manage a team's workloadExperience working with claims and compliance items around timeliness of payments and accurate reporting is preferredExperience working with both IT and Accounting personnelExperience working on projects and performing testingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAdvanced proficiency in MS Excel with ability to learn additional data access skills / languages (i.e. SAS)Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to automate processesStrong fact based decision making skillsTrack record of delivering high quality results Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
