The University of Akron’s department of Application Systems Services is seeking applications for the Director Application Systems Services.
The Director of Applications Systems Services provides vision and leadership in the strategic planning, development, implementation and support of applications information services technology. They are responsible for planning, directing and managing application systems services and the supporting staff of the core areas within Application Systems Services which includes Business Systems Services, Database Management Services, Enterprise Architecture and Business Intelligence Services. The essential responsibilities for this position include:
Manages the supervisors and leads of the application systems services teams supporting the centralized business applications, business intelligence and ERP technology of the University
Prepares short and long-term plans for the application systems services group while reviewing current business strategies and making recommendations to the CIO for changes to the application system environment and technology
Meets with administrative department heads, VPs and Deans to discuss strategies and priorities of potential and ongoing projects and report project status for the application system services teams
Directs the selection of technology for the applications development environment and maintains knowledge of current technology for the purpose of integrating new and upcoming tools
Provides short and long-term budget planning for the application systems services teams
A relevant Bachelor's Degree preferably in business, computer science or engineering
A minimum of 7 years of management and supervisory experience in an MIS environment
An understanding of applications development and project management
Experience in computer applications programming, system analysis, database, business intelligence and various technologies
Must understand the higher education environment and regulations that govern its operation
A relevant Master's Degree in business, computer science or engineering
Experience with PeopleSoft ERP systems and Oracle database technology
Experience with Oracle business intelligence and Tableau technology solutions
Experience in information technology in a higher education setting
