The New Jersey State Library seeks two dynamic, tech-savvy, detail-oriented librarians with a strong commitment to customer service to join the State Library Information Center's Reference Services unit: (1) Digital Librarian: will serve as a digital New Jersey documents collection specialist supporting the growth of the State Library's digital collections and archives; preparing and supporting metadata creation and capture; providing digitization instruction for staff and participating in developing and supporting best management practices for digital document management. (2) Electronic Resources Librarian: will support the management of the electronic life cycle of e-resources, including facilitating the trial, review, selection and acquisition of e-resources; establishing access for authorized users; establishing and maintaining access on the library website, research guides and discovery service; troubleshooting and resolving problems; and developing and supporting best management practices for e-resource management. Under direction, the successful candidates will also provide high quality reference services to state government; Thomas Edison State University staff, students and mentors; researchers; New Jersey libraries; and the general public. Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, ordering and maintaining print and electronic resources in assigned areas; developing research guides; providing web content; providing technology assistance; and promoting library services and collections through instruction and outreach.

NOTE: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: -Provides accurate, timely and courteous reference service to all constituencies served by the New Jersey State Library. -Digitizes library materials and creates metadata. -Facilitates trial, review, selection and acquisition of electronic resources, establishes and maintains access, and troubleshoots problems. -Does the work involved in reviewing, selecting, purchasing, classifying and maintaining print and electronic resources in subject specific areas or collections with a focus on the needs of the primary communities served by the New Jersey State Library Information Center. -Develops and conducts training for library customers and staff in the use of library resources. -Writes about and describes library materials, services and training for the web site and other information outlets. -Creates and maintains research guides. -Utilizes and may administer various types of software and electronic information systems in use throughout the Library. -Operates library computers and equipment and can assist others with their use. -Resolves library customer concerns. -Participates on library committees and teams. -Participates in meetings and gives talks before professional and public groups. -Develops and conducts programs geared to stimulate library use, promote electronic subject specialty resources, and inform the community of library services. -Prepares accurate and informative statistical, subject, and other reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. -Drafts correspondence. -Establishes and maintains library records and files.

Possession of or eligibility for a professional librarian certificate issued by Thomas Edison State University.
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
