A postdoctoral fellow position isavailable in the Zalzman Laboratory, in the Department of Biochemistry andMolecular Biology and the Center for Stem Cell Biology & RegenerativeMedicine at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine. The Departmentof Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a research-intensive department, whichis routinely ranked in the top 15% in the United States.
The Zalzman laboratory studiesnovel mechanisms governing cellular lifespan with the overreaching goal ofenhancing the therapeutic potential and lifespan of adult stem cells forregenerative medicine. The project goal of this fellowship position is toestablish novel cellular therapies for Parkinson's disease using human adultstem cells in vitro and in vivo in a rodent animal model. Theposition will also involve close collaboration with other labs in the department,as well as labs in the National Institute on Aging/ National Institutes ofHealth.
We are seeking talented, self-motivated candidates with a strong work ethic who have recently obtained his/her Ph.D. in the biomedicalfield. Candidates must have interest in neuroscience, stem cell biology,molecular biology or related field with a strong publication record in theseareas. Candidates with experience and backgroundin rodent in vivo neurosurgical skills are preferred. A thoroughknowledge of the English language with good writing and oralcommunication skills are required as wellas the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinaryteam.
