Which is why your performance and innovation will find a reception here like nowhere else as you help people live healthier lives while doing your life's best work.(sm) The Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) Lead, Internal Audit (IAAS) will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with corporate objectives and government regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and NAIC Model Audit Rule (MAR). The ICFR Consultant will liaison with external auditors and regulatory examiners, coordinating all internal controls and external financial controls testing. In addition, this position also guides and administers the scoping, documentation, and certification of financial reporting controls supporting SEC, statutory, and customer SOC reporting for various enterprise entities. This role supports the creation of ICFR methodology, training and the implementation of ICFR process improvements that drive operational efficiency, quality and financial performance. Primary Responsibilities:Ensures that the review and scoping process of the financial statements for ICFR purposes remain in compliance with UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) policies and highlights reporting risk factorsEnsures accounts, processes, risks and controls which impact financial reporting are appropriately represented, completely documented and maintainedEnsures key financial reporting controls are tested as scoped and documented for the current yearProvides assurance to senior management that UHG's internal controls over financial reporting are designed and operating effectively and are communicated to external regulatory stakeholdersMonitor and report on financial reporting risks and controlsChampion and cultivate the ICFR culture within the businessPrepare clear, accurate and complete workpapers in accordance with department quality standards; meet project timelines and deliverable due datesReview work performed by others, provide recommendations for improvement and ensure resources are allocated to meet project deadlinesIdentify ICFR issues and perform root cause analysis while determining practical corrective solutionsAs necessary, perform follow-up on ICFR action plans and deficiency evaluationsParticipate on special projects undertaken by the department and/or the Company
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degreePublic Accounting experience2 years of relevant ICFR business experienceMust have an understanding of auditing concepts and principles, and how to apply them. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills while working effectively with a teamStrong oral and written communication skill.
