In support of the Human Systems Department, Naval Air Systems Command located in Patuxent River, Maryland, Research and Engineering Development, LLC, is seeking individuals to fill entry and mid-level full-time Human System Specialist positions in support of the Human Systems Department, Naval Air Systems Command located at Patuxent River, Maryland. The Human Systems Department provides full life cycle engineering support for aircraft, weapons systems, and ground stations in the domains of Human Factors, Habitability, Survivability, Training, Manpower, and Personnel. This encompasses systems acquisition technical support, research, development, test and evaluation (T&E) and the laboratory support to ensure that the human is effectively integrated into the crew station and total weapon system. Successful integration requires a mix of personnel with knowledge and training in engineering, avionics, physiology, cognition, crew positions, and mission operations to ensure weapon system operational safety and integrity, and enhance operator and maintainer performance throughout the full life cycle.
The qualified Human Systems Specialist will be responsible for Cockpit/Ground Station/Crew Station design and the overall integration of human-machine system components. Will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more Human Systems domains; coordinate and conduct Human Systems integration, acquisition, research, development, test and evaluation; interact with vendors developing systems and subsystems; communicate with Program Leadership; and interact with other Department of Defense (DOD) organizations in support of tasking.

A minimum of 2 years experience in Aerospace-related Human Engineering is required and a Bachelors Degree in Industrial, Human Factors, Aeronautical, Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering or related field. The candidate must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to travel as required and needed. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required. Previous experience with Navy or DOD systems and MA/MS/PhD or other advanced degree is beneficial.
