All tenure track faculty members teach the equivalent of 12 hours per semester, maintain active scholarly work in their field, and participate in service to the university and the region. This position would include both undergraduate and graduate teaching.
Ph.D./Ed.D. or ABD in Curriculum & Instruction, secondary or middle level education in a content area, Instructional Technology, or Educational Leadership (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
Held teaching certification at the middle or secondary level
Minimum of five (5) years full time middle or secondary teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to professional development in 5 – 12 grade pedagogy of teaching at the middle or secondary level and instructional technology
Knowledge or experience with state and national teacher standards and current trends in teacher education
Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the college/university level
Demonstrated potential for scholarly work
Experience or knowledge of using technology in face to face or online instruction
Superior written and oral communication skill
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities

Departmental Information: The College of Education at Southeast Missouri State University has an award-winning teacher preparation program that is NCATE accredited and approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE). The Department of Middle and Secondary Education works closely with the content departments to offer undergraduate programs in a variety of subjects that have been recognized by their Specialized Program Association (SPAs). The teacher preparation programs are experiential, field-based, with faculty actively involved in area K – 12 schools. Additionally, online graduate programs are offered in Secondary Education in Educational Studies and Educational Technology.
