Analyzes cost assignments, ensuring projects are consistent with accepted cost accounting standards. Compares actual versus standard costs and generates variance reports. Develops and maintains metrics for major cost drivers. This position is responsible for working with the Controller, Account Manager, Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Sales and Customer Service Support personnel in the development and improvement of the standard cost accounting system and in driving the entire organization to new levels of accuracy, understanding and control. Assists with preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations.
Successful candidate will:
Develop and install cost accounting system; plan study and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor; analyze data obtained and record results.
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs; analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs; analyze and report variances.
Collect and study data to determine costs of business activity as raw material purchases, labor, inventory, and outside processing; analyze data obtained and record results.
Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures; analyze audits of costs and prepare reports; compile cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
Manage special projects; assist with developing annual budgets.
Make estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Review work orders in “completed” status; for scrap and issue additional “scrapped” items to work order for cost inclusion, for variances, labor, material, or outplant, for quantity discrepancies. Run work order close process.
Develop custom SQL queries for inclusion in ad-Hoc Reports.
Troubleshoot and improve existing Crystal and SSRS reports for management use.
Develop tools to assist in purchasing planning decisions.
Prepare reports and calculate bi-weekly commissions.
Review Manufacturing and Production Assembly time cards.
React well under pressure; manage competing demands. Develop alternative solutions; demonstrate persistence and overcomes obstacles. Ensure the professional and courteous atmosphere of the company and the Purchasing Department at all times by maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
3-5 years of related experience in manufacturing, engineering, and R&D cost accounting role required.
Knowledge and experience in financial accounting required.
Knowledge and experience in accounting information systems including in-depth knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems and its process flows required.
Month end closing experience and/or financial statement preparation experience required.
Highly responsible, self-motivated and able to thrive in an energetic, fast-paced, creative environment.
Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
Ability to meet agreed upon deadlines.
Hands-on; proactive in nature.
Have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal).
