UW Medicine Revenue Cycle Management has an outstanding opportunity for a System Analyst for Epic Contract Manager. This individual will be an operational subject matter expert, an Epic systems expert, and an expert with regard to underpayment functionality. The System Analyst will work independently on account resolution tasks, to ensure success in the identification of third-party payer underpayments and timely and compliant resolution. Key focus areas for the System Analyst are reimbursement analysis, timely follow-up on all assigned accounts, and appropriate account documentation in Epic.
This role is responsible for working with a diverse group of people from all UW Medicine entities and contracted payers to analyze and understand discrepancies between payer contracted amounts and claim paid amounts. The System Analyst for Epic Contract Manager will also be responsible for determining and developing standard audit techniques to insure Revenue Integrity within Epic. This role requires a deep understanding of Patient Financial Services (PFS) functions (hospital billing and collections, remittance posting) and UW Medicine contract reimbursement methodologies such as DRG, EAPG, and OPPS. The System Analyst for Epic Contract Manager will serve as a key contributor in communication updates to UW Medicine functional areas such as Contracting, Finance, EBS to be actively involved in providing visibility to underpayment performance.
The System Analyst for Epic Contract Manager will be a key Revenue Cycle Resource in the migration from Payment Integrity Compass (PIC) to Epic Contract Manager. The System Analyst will be a key contributor in developing test cases for transition as well as execution and review of each case. The System Analyst will work in close connection to the Denial Resolution staff within Patient Financial Services (PFS) and other Revenue Cycle teams that support UWMC, HMC, and NWH.
The System Analyst is responsible for managing the audits and integrity of third party payer underpayments of hospital patient accounts. This individual will serve as liaison with our contracting department, payers and vendors that may assist in underpayment recovery. This individual will also have responsibility for performing specific areas of review, follow-up, recovery and account resolution and for working across our organization to identify and resolve operational and systematic issues that negatively impact underpayment performance.
Work independently to identify collectible accounts and perform comprehensive analysis.
Maintain accurate and appropriate account documentation in all relevant systems.
Create summary reports to identify data and collection trends.
Perform problem resolution.
Adhere to standard recovery processes.
Assist with training of new employees.
Provide regular status reporting.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field AND at least five (5) years of experience in Patient Accounting, including three (3) or more years in Hospital Receivables Management role, or other similar position where analysis and problem solving skills have been demonstrated. Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to diagnose claims-related issues. Experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, management and insurance companies. Demonstrated excellence in both internal and external customer interaction and written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer focus and management of customer expectations; ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence in the a variety of groups. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
