PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greets and prepares student/patients for healthcare visit
Manages incoming phone calls and triages calls to appropriate provider
Documents in electronic medical record
Front desk duties as needed; answer calls, help with insurance questions, collect payment for services, run daily reports for deposits, reconcile payments, etc.
Scan all ER, x-ray, and specialties referral responses in patient charts
Rooms patients and obtains necessary vital signs and chief complaints
Keeps exam rooms stocked and clean
Assist MD’s or NP with limited procedures
Other duties as assigned, i.e. injections, observation, EKG, Spirometry, peak flows or dressing changes
Duties while assisting with laboratory specimens:
Obtains and process specimens as required by providers orders, clarifying orders as needed, and using universal precautions
Prepare specimens for transport to the reference laboratory with complete documentation and accurate charges to the patient
Performs routine in lab testing and daily quality controls
Chart in-house lab results completely and accurately in the patient chart, bringing all critical results to the provider’s attention as soon as testing is complete
Greets patients and assist them with instructions prior to their visit with the provider insuring consistent and timely flow of the GYN clinic
Room patients following the outlined rooming protocols, including asking some of the patient’s history and assisting with some of Women’s Health Education. Maintain copies of education handouts and pamphlets
Assist provider with most women’s health exams, colposcopy and any other necessary procedures
Administers HPV injections
Maintain and follow guidelines for PAP ordering and PAP log
Checks patients’ charts for received/outstanding colposcopy, pathology or other lab results for follow up, as directed by NP/MD. He/she can also obtain those reports and have them scanned into the EMR by the front office staff
Assists patients with referrals to ultrasound, Breast Center and/or other referred facilities. This includes faxing needed paperwork and other medical records when necessary
Reorders supplies and manages inventory
Checks provider mailbox, messages and voicemail to assist the provider if needed
Prepares for the next clinic day patient visits
Organizes, cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed according to EH&S standards
High school diploma or GED; a Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience (examples of related fields include military medic, emergency medical technicians, Nurse’s Aide, physical therapy and nurse technicians, and certified athletic trainers); substitutions include:
Medical Assistant certification/registration eligible with successful completion of certification exam within 6 months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (such as RN/LPN), or comparable allied health training program with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Basic Life Support certification
The hiring range for this position is $13.89 - $17.01 per hour.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is highly preferred; 2 years or more of Medical Assistant experience; electronic medical record experience
