Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time Director of Prospect Management with the Advancement Office.

The Director of Prospect Management works with the Associate Vice President for Advancement in the identification, management, qualification and prioritization of major gift prospects. This position helps lead the discovery and cultivation process for all gift planning staff. This position is critical to a successful fundraising program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the donor assignment and prospect pool for all gift officers, by engaging in regular meetings with set expectations of outcomes with the gift planning team.
Manage research initiatives including identifying, qualifying, and rating prospects for major, planned, and Gustavus Fund gifts.
Maintain research on existing prospects, sustain proactive research to identify new prospects, and prepare profiles for selected prospects.
Assist the gift planning staff in preparation of background material for volunteer briefings and the development of proposals for presentation to prospects by staff and volunteers.
Provide assistance in targeting and tracking prospects for specific events.
Play a leadership role in carrying out peer and electronic screening in preparation for campaign initiatives.
Provide research to the President on prospective trustees.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree with experience in individual, corporate, foundation, and government prospect research, preferably in a higher education setting, or closely related field.
High level of computer literacy with skills in on-line database research and the Internet.
Knowledge of prospect tracking, screening, and rating systems.
Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in locating, analyzing, summarizing, and organizing information critical to prospect evaluation and cultivation.
Team player with the ability to maintain a proactive “big picture” perspective while effectively managing detail.
Experience in a higher education setting, or closely related field.
An understanding of philanthropy, campaigns, and prospect management systems preferred.
Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, iWave and Reeher systems helpful.
