The incumbent in this position will lead, direct and manage all aspects of a highly significant and impactful partnership in China that will include setting up an education and research institution in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences in a public-private partnership with regional and central government. This institution will train students who would lead the transformation of healthcare in China related to pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. The incumbent will develop and lead a matrix team representing various functions, including education, research, practice, accounting and finance, HR, information technology, and research and education infrastructure; engage and liaise with global consulting firms with specialty in legal, finance, and policy issues as they relate to setting up a research and education institution in China. The incumbent will manage the due diligence process including legal, financial, and governmental aspects. The incumbent will also manage the planning and implementation of a major education, research, and professional training program in China with focus in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. This would involve coordinating efforts of multiple teams in the USA and in China, engagement with the government officials and stakeholders in both countries, reporting progress to the stakeholders, and making tactical and strategic decisions in close coordination with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Global Engagement, and members of the Dean’s leadership team. Finally, the incumbent will manage the launch of a variety of education and research collaborations in China.
Education and Experience:
The preferred candidate will have previous experience working in a higher education setting and in the pharmaceutical sciences. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in China or internationally with an established record of creating relationships and partnerships with other governments and organizations related to program development initiatives. The individual should demonstrate strength with the following skills: communication, leadership, judgement, organization, self-initiative, innovation, and collaboration. They should also have a commitment to excellence; superior interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities and deadlines; ability to collaborate with a wide variety of constituents; ability to solve complex problems in a timely manner
