The Department of Theatre at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Acting position. The Assistant Professor of Acting will have a 3/2 teaching load and be expected to participate in departmental service and governance, and engage in ongoing creative and/or scholarly research commensurate with attaining tenure at a research institution.
We are seeking a highly collaborative artist/scholar who has expertise in a variety of contemporary acting pedagogies and practices with an emphasis on voice and speech for theatrical productions. Expertise in IPA, Dialects, Voice and Text for the non-performer, Introduction to Acting, Basic Shakespeare Verse and Text, and other introductory theatre courses desired. Additional areas of expertise may include Musical Theatre, African-American Theatre and/or Race and Performance, and Culturally Responsive Community Practice.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
M.F.A. or Ph.D. and college-level teaching experience.
