Job Posting: Summary of Essential Job Duties: Under general supervision and following established practices, policies, and guidelines, provides patient relations support to Patient Financial Services, performing duties which include identifying, analyzing, resolving and responding to customer inquiries, concerns and issues, and following up on accounts to ensure payment and resolution. Positions at this level require advanced knowledge in specialized functions and a full understanding of the revenue cycle. Incumbents must work independently and have strong customer service skills and are able to work well with patients, deescalate issues quickly, able to talk, think and access the system to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. This position requires strong analytic and problem solving skills and the ability to understand, interpret and explain payor contracts and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) billing and collections policy and practices. This position may be cross-trained in other revenue cycle functions and provide back-up coverage.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: High school graduate with college level courses in finance, business or health insurance. Experience:
High school graduate. English speech, spelling, grammar and simple math skills equivalent to high school level required.
College level courses in finance, business or health insurance.
Four (4) to five (5) years of hospital billing and/or Collection experience with customer service and call center experience preferred.
Detailed knowledge of basic accounting principles and healthcare billing and collection practices.
Knowledge of call center technologies such as Automatic Call Distributor and Integrated Voice Response system preferred.
Ability to understand and analyze different bill types and their purpose and or billing process as needed.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of regulatory and Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS) policies and procedures governing billing and collections. Understanding of government guidelines.
Successful completion of PRMPT I.
Ability to perform relevant mathematical calculations.
Must possess computer competency comprised of a detailed knowledge of MS office, Web/Vs, Emdeon and CS-Link.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Detail and problem-solving aptitude.
Typing 40 to 45 wpm (45 to 50 wpm preferred.)
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks frequently and with short timelines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.
