Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for The Office of Continuing Professional Education. This position reports to the Assistant Director at Rutgers Cooperative Extension – New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station's Office of Continuing Professional Education (NJAES-OCPE), the primary purpose of this position provides management and delivery of programs, projects and services for the conference unit.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Manages personnel for conference events and short courses.
Identifies, develops and improves conference events, short courses, and grant-funded outreach programs and services.
Manages and implements logistical arrangements for conference events, short courses, and other services, as assigned by the Assistant Director.
Develops and implements strategic and tactical marketing campaigns.
Carries out routine and semi-routine work within work parameters for the unit and under general supervision.
Maintains a broad understanding of OCPE's programs, the mission, vision, role and goals of OCPE, the Experiment Station, Cooperative Extension and the university as well as the unit's and office's goals of self- sustainability.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the organization and facilitation of conference management, grant program management, business management, program coordination, event management and/or marketing.
Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires good communication skills and computer literacy in MS Office Suite, website maintenance and –Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Work effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and priorities.
Requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the university's defensive driving program.
All Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; IE/Firefox/Chrome internet browsers; Adobe Creative Cloud software including Acrobat, Publisher, Photoshop and In-Design.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Travel to offsite meetings is required (Rutgers does not control the accessibility of non-Rutgers locations, but the majority of meeting sites are at University and State / County / Local government buildings that offer access ramps, elevators, etc. to assist those with mobility limitations).
No specific dress code is defined, but this position is expected to dress professionally for meetings, conferences and classes with internal and external clients.
This position may occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours to manage response to mission-critical, time-sensitive issues.
