The auditor will perform professional auditing work to include performance, compliance and financial-related audits of the agency's operations in accordance with relevant auditing standards. The auditor will independently analyze data and assist in preparing audit reports of findings and recommendations. Work includes performing independent examination and analysis of moderately complex financial and/or program information as well as source records and reports for accuracy and integrity and conformance to guidelines and regulations. The auditor has responsibilities during all phases of auditing work to include planning, fieldwork and reporting. The auditor performs highly complex professional auditing work assignment under general supervision.
Some overnight travel for audits and training is required for this position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Qualified applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
Knowledge of professional standards, such as generally accepted accounting principles, the International Professional Practices Framework (Standards), also known as the Red Book, and/or Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), also known as the Yellow Book, as well as local, state and federal regulations and statutes governing the area of work.
Experience in conducting and leading financial or financial-related, compliance or performance audits in accordance with relevant standards.
Experience in interpreting or applying policies and/or regulations.
Experience in writing clear, concise and accurate audit reports of findings and recommendations.
Experience in software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and data mining software, such as ACL.
Management prefers applicants who have certifications or working towards certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
