We’re hiring a Development Officer, who will focus on securing corporate sponsorships, and in-kind contributions. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Development, the chosen candidate will also be responsible for ensuring these partners receive optimal recognition for their investments.
The successful candidate will work toward achieving maximum sponsorship profitability, by personally contacting and securing existing and new accounts/partners.
Promotes/pitches/secures partnerships from existing and prospective partners through a relationship-based approach.
Reviews options with existing/potential partners and assists them in selecting those best suited to their goals.
Develops clear, researched, targeted and effectively written, and visually appealing proposals to present and/or email to existing and prospective partners, following-up with telephone calls and in-person visits
Coordinates sponsorship recognition efforts with marketing, logistics and technical service teams.
Analyzes market potential and determines the value of existing and prospective partners’ value to the organization.
Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new opportunity development.
Participates in trade shows, conventions, networking events and activities.
2-3 years’ experience in the fundraising, sales and/or communications industries, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
A post-secondary degree and/or diploma that lends to the position
Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving
Superior people skills
Results-oriented with ability to negotiate and close deals
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software (Smartsheet and/or Excel knowledge an added bonus)
A valid G driver’s license in good standing
Fluency in French and English will be considered an asset
This is a long-term position supported by an excellent compensation package:
Salary starting at $32,200 per year
