As the Senior Health Care Economics Analyst you will extract, analyze and interpret Medicare Advantage healthcare data to uncover trends, and assist in managing and understanding the financial impact of business decisions. And start doing your life's best work.(sm) Primary Responsibilities:Identify, analyze and explain medical trends Design and develop data queries through SAS and other tools to create models for analyzing business opportunities and interpreting key drivers of health care trends (i.e. medical cost, utilization, etc.) Provide claims, premium, capitation and membership data in support of Underwriting, Actuarial, Product and utilization analyses Work with broader finance team to create the connection between medical trend evaluations and financial results Synthesize analysis across different categories and initiatives Identify and implement appropriate analytic approaches / methodologies and perform quality assurance Create summarized reports for leadership Provide ongoing, meaningful, communications to managers on project status, results and conclusions from analyses
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field Experience with performing data analytics, either from educational study or professional experience At least an intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel for data analytics Experience with SAS, SQL and/or other statistical programs Strong problem solving and analytical skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated to prioritize work on multiple complex assignments Ability to work successfully in an ever - changing, priority driven environment Ability to learn quickly and produce high - quality workPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of healthcare industry 2+ years of work experience in a corporate setting Experience working with large data sets Advanced degreeCareers with UnitedHealthcare.
