Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEIn partnership with the Program Director(s) and faculty, the Program Manager will develop, implement, and grow two new multidisciplinary program offerings: Data Science and Business Analytics and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS). The Master of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics is a novel interdisciplinary degree program that leverages the strengths of Wayne State in statistics, operations research, computing, and business by combining the world-class expertise of the College of Engineering and the Mike Ilitch School of Business. Cyber Physical Systems is becoming a technology foundation for next-generation transportation and industrial automation, and emerging systems such as connected and automated vehicles, smart grid, advanced manufacturing, and smart health are canonical examples of CPS. The CPS graduate certificate program at Wayne State University is designed to advance CPS knowledge and develop CPS talents through university-industry-government partnerships.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSServes as a representative of the Data Science and Business Analytics and Cyber Physical Systems programs. Interacts with internal and external constituents, University administration, students and business leaders. Is the main point of contact for the programs.Work with program directors and faculty members to develop short and long-term objectives.Institute best practices that will allow the program to grow with a focus on increasing and expanding participation and retention.Maintain relationships with program partners at WSU and external constituents. Present on behalf of programs at internal and external events. Document program policies, practices, procedures and initiatives.Manage all communication through social media, newsletter communications, print material and events. Supervise any additional program or administrative staff or student assistants.Provide statistical and qualitative analysis of the programs performance. Measure program outcomes to support continuous improvement efforts.Plan and organize internal and external meetings. Manage the operating funds and donations ensuring compliance to budget. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's Degree in engineering, business or computer science.EXPERIENCEMinimum 5 years of job-related experience.Significant demonstrated experience in supporting the development and implementation of new programs and strategies. Experience with organizing and developing various communication avenues, social media, newsletter and websites. Prior experience in a University setting preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:TEAMWORK: Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with colleagues within the division and other units, Strong interest in working with students; understands the needs of stakeholders. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work successfully with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff and outside parties, Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skill, Strong public speaking ability.PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Ability to independently manage a variety of projects while ensuring appropriate tracking, quality control, follow-up to insure multiple deadlines are met, Exceptional attention to detail.ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Strong organizational skills including program development, communications, marketing and fundraising, Able to set priorities, monitor progress toward goals and drive strategies to move the program forward.PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITIES: Problem solver with good judgment, high ethical standards and common sense. KNOWLEDGE, BUSINESS SKILLS: General business, analytical and financial skills.COMPUTER SKILLS-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
