We have an immediate opening for a Recreation Programmer at the new Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, located in South Riding, VA. The recreation center will be a go-to destination with its indoor leisure and competition pool, state of the art fitness center, full size gymnasium, indoor rock wall, special event and meeting rooms as well as a community center. As a Recreation Programmer you will use your organizational abilities and creativity to successfully plan and implement recreation programs, activities, classes and special events to include developing a variety of programs to serve all segments of a diverse population and develop marketing materials to promote programs. You will recruit and interview class instructors, schedule facilities, and coordinate equipment and supplies to assure program quality. Your supervisory skills and customer service focus are needed as you oversee and perform general supervision of facility drop-in users, renters and participants and handle customer concerns. Utilize your imagination to implement survey instruments to identify trends and to assure programs meet citizen expectations and needs. Strong administrative skills are needed as you use automated systems to complete reports and maintain program records. You will assist with light facility maintenance tasks, such as room set up and break down. Must be willing to work a very flexible work schedule; to include early mornings, days, evenings and weekends to meet center needs.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education or related field. Virginia state licensing requires 6 months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities. Membership in the Virginia Recreation and Park Society is beneficial to the position. Valid Driver’s License required. Must have certification in CPR and First Aid for adult, infant and child. Negative TB Test required. Membership in the Virginia Recreation and Park Society is beneficial to the position. Criminal background, Child Protective Services (CPS), credit checks and DMV record check required.
