Take this opportunity to start doing your life's best work.(sm) The Detailing Pharmacist will work with medical group administrators and physicians in a prescriber detailing capacity to 1) drive adherence to evidence based medicine guidelines 2) drive medication adherence 3) drive to prescribing of lower cost alternatives. As part of this process this individual will work with both medical groups as well as OptumRx Clinical Analytics to develop / refine prescriber detailing reports. The Detailing Pharmacist serves as the primary liaison between OptumRx clinical analytics, clinical products and the medical groups. They will strive to increase prescriber outreach with a focus on adhering to clinical guidelines, improving medication compliance, and promoting cost - effective prescribing behavior. They will lead and manage the prescriber relationship as an outward facing dedicated resource for a key State and Government client. The Detailer will collaborate with the Clinical Analytics team to continually improve medical management outcomes and will build relationships between OptumRx and physician offices and/or medical groups. This individual will engage medical groups to identify ways to make the reporting tool more useful and be expected to bring back recommendations from physician offices to support continuous quality improvement of the detailing program including analytics and reporting. Primary Responsibilities:Function in this field - based role traveling up to 80% to prescriber locations- includes OptumRx Sacramento or Southern California location and the surrounding market prescribersPlan weekly activities, summarize outcomes and detail actionable items from activitiesEngage top prescribers through face-to-face visits, telephonic outreach, and fax/mail intervention to provide them with key feedback on their prescribing patterns, including benchmarks against relevant peer groupsReview prescriber-specific opportunities to improve care on behalf of membersReview patient - specific opportunities to optimize and provide cost - effective, quality careDevelop and manage the client relationship by employing effective communication, utilizing professional acumen, and incorporating drug expertiseAbility to identify lower cost alternatives for members to assist the client to improve drug spendApply marketing / consultation techniques in promotion of national practice guidelines for clinical effectiveness and safetyWork with internal marketing teams to create collateral to promote prescribing best practicesParticipate in the development of reports providing comparative data on prescribing practicesParticipate in the development of outcome reports to track the success of interventionsAnalyze data to track and trend program impact and identify areas of opportunity to improve the programFunction with high level of urgency in all business responses - internal and external
Required Qualifications: BS Pharmacy or Pharm DActive unrestricted CA pharmacist license3+ years of experience as a practicing PharmacistStrong interpersonal / communication skills, thrives in dynamic relationshipsStrong clinical analytics with ability to analyze / interpret claims data, cost drivers, trendsAbility to travel up to 80% local market, including office in Southern California or SacramentoGeneral pharmacy / PBM, medical practices business understanding related to prescribingUnderstands clinical quality programs (i.e. CMS STAR Ratings, NCQA/HEDIS, PQA).Preferred Qualifications:Client relationship interactions and / or customer service experience Understanding of Pay-for-performance programs, ACOs and other performance/quality based initiatives At least 1 year of academic detailing experienceAt least 1 year of managed care or PBM experience UnitedHealth Group is working to create the health care system of tomorrow.
