Job PurposeTowson University is accepting applications for an Associate Director - Career Center External Relations. This position leads, manages and coordinates all employer and external relations initiatives for the Towson University Career Center, to include both targeted outreach and ongoing relationship management; develops and enhances a strong external community, including employers, alumni, parents, and campus supporters, to hire and support TU students and alumni; supervises, mentors and coordinates all staff within the external relations function; and manages key employer relations programs and initiatives related to recruitment and career readiness.
Provides leadership and management for the development and implementation of strategic objectives and processes for external relationship development and maintenance with the aim of building an engaged and active community to hire and aid in the professional development of students; utilizes guiding principles of inclusion, scalability, and innovation; directly supervises, provides strategic leadership for and manages staff within the External Relations function; develops goals/objectives and initiatives for the external relations team; leverages benchmarking and best practices and utilizes data and assessment to make informed decisions; directs employer relations marketing activities; establishes and enforces policies and procedures related to employer engagement; and serves as a key member of the Career Center's leadership team. Employer Outreach and Engagement: Oversees the implementation of key employer relations initiatives and programs, such as fairs, on-campus interviews, information sessions, and position posting management; manages the employer partnership program; advises employers on strategies for successful branding and engagement at TU; develops and maintains relationships with internal TU units (Alumni Relations, Advancement, New Student Programs, colleges, etc.) to identify prospects and coordinate TU's engagement with external entities (employers, alumni, parents, etc.); and leverages knowledge of local and regional organizations and industries (chambers of commerce, companies, non-profits, government agencies, etc.) to engage in outreach efforts. Career-Readiness: Develops relationships with external partners (employers, alumni, parents) to aid in the career-readiness development of TU students; shares information gleaned from external partners with relevant faculty, students, and staff; partners with Career Center and other campus constituents to engage external partners in career-readiness programming and initiatives (mentoring, networking events, mock interviews, etc.); and provides leadership with the process of exploring the establishment of a career communities structure
Bachelor's degree; five years experience; significant demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining relationships with entities and individuals (account management, sales/marketing, talent acquisition, etc.); experience supervising and mentoring staff; demonstrated experience leading and managing in a team-based and collaborative environment; proven record of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders; commitment to high quality service delivery and ability to embrace and drive innovation and change; ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing; customer relationship management/career management systems database experience; knowledge of issues related to employment barriers, issues of workplace accommodations, and the needs of a diverse student population; and experience with the application of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Preferred: Experience with Handshake or other career management systems and/or CRM platforms; experience in recruitment/HR, account management and/or higher education.
