The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking applications for the Assistant to the District Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri. This position assists the district engineer in all elements of management of the district operations with primary responsibility for direct supervision of the administrative functions and units including human resources, information systems, risk management, support services, facilities operations, and budget and business plan development.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field. Over nine years of progressively responsible experience in positions providing extensive exposure to functions such as human resources administration, accounting, resource/budget management, or other job related areas is required.
MoDOT is a non-partisan state agency governed by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (“Commission”); a constitutional commission appointed by the Governor, confirmed by the Senate, and consisting of high-profile business and civic leaders. MoDOT is led by a Director selected by the Commission. MoDOT is responsible for the seventh largest transportation system in the country with ...approximately 34,000 miles of highway and 10,400 bridges. MoDOT also oversees aspects of other major modes for transportation including 124 public use airports, 11 ports, passenger rail (through Amtrak), 3,800 rail crossings, urban and rural transit, and 600 miles of pedestrian trails and bike paths. Motor carrier services and highway safety are also responsibilities of the agency. The MoDOT organization includes approximately 800 employees at the central office in Jefferson City, and 4,300 employees located in seven districts around the state. Each district is accountable for approximately 15 percent of the total road mileage in the state highway system.
