The Music Department at Simpson University invites applications for a full-time faculty position to begin January 2, 2018. The successful applicant will conduct the student chorale, community chorus, and teach in a secondary area subject to the applicant’s strengths. Options for the secondary area of expertise include applied voice, contemporary worship music, music theory, aural skills, or music history. Additional duties include a commitment to student recruitment and advising, committee work, and participation in faculty governance.
A doctorate in choral conducting or a related field is required and significant teaching experience at the university level is preferred. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic, student-focused conductor who leads with superb rehearsal skills, effective physical gestures, and excellent musicality. The successful candidate must possess an understanding of multiple genres of choral music, be an engaging classroom teacher who is committed to student learning, and able to collaborate with colleagues.
Candidates must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to their Christian faith and be sympathetic with the goals and values of Simpson University.
