Mecklenburg County in North Carolina, is seeking an Internal Health Administrator to join the largest Public Health Department in the state of North Carolina. The newly restructured Administrative Support Division includes planning and evaluation, strategic planning, quality improvement, accreditation, fiscal compliance, IT services, training, grants and compliance, and coordination of public information. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across program areas and will coordinate overall direction for quality improvement across all divisions. About the Department and Position: Mecklenburg County Health Department (MCHD), employs 800 FTE with a budget of $77.1 M. The Administrative Support Division with approximately 30 employees, will serve as a resource to other entities within the Mecklenburg County Health Department. The incumbent will have the authority to perform critical decision making and the independence and discretion to establish and manage programs. The Health Administrator serves on the Executive Team of the Health Department, working with the Health Director and the other members of the Team to provide cohesive, transformational leadership for the Health Department. The Internal Health Administrator will join a restructured leadership team to lead a reorganizational effort designed to improve organizational efficiency, increase employee morale and improve patient outcomes.
Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree required in business administration, public administration, public health, human services or a technical field, or related field; Five years of progressively responsible management experience directly related to the operations management of public health or a human services agency; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Education & Experience: Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Health Administration or related field; Three years’ experience in strategic planning, evaluation, systems analysis and/or management, health and human service program management; Five (5) years of senior management level public health operations experience including the development of the operating budget and ongoing financial management, including experience working with Medicaid cost reporting and other revenue streams; Experience with public health accreditation, public health EMRs, communication planning.
