Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Lab Technologist.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic purposes under minimal supervision.
Performing and documenting preventive maintenance procedures and instrument function checks.
Maintaining sufficient working supplies in order to assure the continued integrity of workstation operations.
Maintaining up-to-date pending logs to ensure that all specimens have been processed accordingly.
Calling Critical Values to nursing unit immediately upon their completion and recording the name of person to whom the results were given as well as the time of the call.
Applying sound technical judgment in evaluating problems and developing prompt, reasonable, workable alternatives, which benefit the patient within established guidelines of the department.
Handling varying workloads while maintaining accuracy.
Plus all related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physical Sciences from an accredited college or university with one year of clinical laboratory experience (completion of an internship program at a qualified institution is acceptable) and a license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the State of New York based on the on the Special Provision of the Regulations of the Commissioner in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Technology Practice Act.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with Hemocare, work experience in a large volume hospital, ASCP, NCA, BB, or SBB credentials preferred
