The Stanford-Surgery Policy Improvement Research and Education (S-SPIRE) Unit is committed to:

Our interdisciplinary team includes clinical and research faculty with expertise in implementation science, health economics, bioinformatics, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies.
We are currently seeking a Project Manager to oversee and manage daily operations for a group of approximately 7-10 to provide overall programmatic support under general supervision. The Project Manager will coordinate weekly group meetings to review and track progress across multiple projects to ensure all employees and researchers are actively engaged in individually allocated activities. The Project Manager will also develop and maintain a tracking record for project requests, analysis plans, and research reports. In addition, develop and maintain server space for datasets acquired and used by the S-SPIRE group. Maintain compliance across all program areas, including health and safety, research administration and HR. Part of this persons responsibilities will also include supervising office staff and triaging issues in the workplace.
Create new proposals incorporating scientific data and formulate progress reports for government, industry and private funding sources. Monitor progress across projects and make adjustments as needed to ensure project goals are on track and specific aims are met. Provide recommendations to faculty director as needed while proactively problem solving to ensure all projects are being executed as planned. Work directly with faculty and other collaborators to develop new projects. With the support of the faculty director determine and implement changes to current program policies and develop new protocols as needed.
Represent faculty member and the S-SPIRE at department meetings, school functions and academic conferences. Attend local, regional and national meetings to describe the S-SPIRE program, goals, and achievements.
Act as point-person and liaison for post-award sponsored projects questions, resolving issues or providing documentation as needed to both internal and external partners.
Seek out and submit program abstracts and publications. Create and maintain group website. Work with program donors, obtain gifts and determine appropriate accounts for various funding sources. Organize and carry out annual program events. The incumbent will monitor abstract deadlines for national surgical meetings, ensure faculty and residents are aware of upcoming deadlines, solicit projects for upcoming abstract deadlines and aid in the online submission of abstracts to national meetings. Aid the director in vetting incoming projects for the unit.
With financial analyst, helps oversee budgets and monitors and approve expenditures, ensuring the appropriateness of charges to the projects based on the science of the projects.
Administer hiring process, interview, train, and monitor personnel. Facilitate performance review process. Supervises the work thru-put of the office, including one administrative assistant. Helps solve personnel problems by working with department HR.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
