The Director of Pharmacy provides professional, technical and administrative direction for pharmaceutical services supporting Managed Care/County Care.Provides guidance and support to professional and clinical staff.Works independently and as a collaborative member of the CountyCare administrative team and with all levels of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS).
Has a dual reporting relationship to the Medical Director-Managed Care for administrative responsibilities and/or to the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services for pharmacy practice responsibilities.
Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university is required. Must provide official transcript at time of interview.
Current State of Illinois Pharmacist License, in good standing is required. Must provide license at time of interview.
Five (5) years of full-time work experience in pharmacy management is required.
Seven (7) years of full-time work experience as a pharmacist within an institutional/hospital pharmacy environment is required.
Prior experience working for a Managed Care Organization (MCO) is required.
Completion of an American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists (ASHP) approved hospital residency is preferred.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Other Characteristics
Knowledge to evaluate and recommend policies to improve health outcomes and reduce cost of care.
Applicant should possess a thorough knowledge of health system and pharmacy policies, procedures, and techniques, federal and State laws and regulations relating to relevant pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical entities and their generic and scientific names, clinical pharmacy applications, research techniques, teaching programs, drug information programs, unit dose and LV. programs, inventory control, purchasing, management, automation and data processing systems as applicable.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of groups and individuals
Plan and implement policies and procedures
Interpret and prepare statistical reports
Skill in the use of a Microsoft Office products, relevant repackaging equipment, and data processing hardware is required.
