Essential Job Duties:
Many of the greatest challenges to humanity in this century will relate to the effects of global environmental changes, including biodiversity loss, climate change, invasive species, land-use change, over-exploitation, and disease, on human health and well-being. Addressing these challenges requires interdisciplinary research and education across the natural and social sciences for the development of natural resource governance and policy, and research that explicitly addresses feedbacks between natural and social systems. We are especially interested in candidates with strong quantitative skills as well as candidates with demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary research and scholarship combining the social and natural sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, extramurally funded research program that enhances existing strengths and builds additional capacity in interdisciplinary research and education. As part of the Cluster in Global Environmental Change and Human Well-being (https://facultyclusters.ncsu.edu/clusters/global-environmental-change-and-human-well-being/), the successful candidate will work with other cluster members to organize workshops and working groups and enhance interdisciplinary research around cluster themes. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas related to socio-ecological systems.
Requires doctor’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience
Aptitude for and desire to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Post-doctoral and teaching experiences are preferred.
Priority will be given to candidates who show evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration that cuts across academic units.
