The San Diego Immunization Initiative, including the Regionalized Immunization Registry, is a comprehensive and county-wide program which seeks to reduce vaccine preventable diseases by increasing coverage rates among all San Diego County residents. The program is co-located with HHSA Immunization Program at the Rosecrans Health and Human Services Complex and at off-site Public Health Center locations.
Under the general supervision of the Education and Outreach Manager, the full-time Program Support Specialist provides support by independently analyzing and exercising discretion and sound judgment in resolving a wide variety of problems and inquires. Serves as a resource and independently responds to requests for assistance. Also provides support to the Clinical Services Team Manager and four Public Health Nurses. Serves as a Program Support Specialist to the County Public Health Nurses and Clinical Supervisor to all disease surveillance cases that are being reported to the County Immunization Program. This position supports a department of approximately 60 staff including the Branch Chief in a wide range of duties requiring confidentiality, discretion, tact, diplomacy and sound judgment including analytical and decision making skills.
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of experience in a health or social service field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience monitoring or coordinating programs with ability to make suggestions for improved efficiency.
Demonstrated experience in serving as clinical program representative in a health setting or health related project.
Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to respond to multiple program ?needs and deadlines simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to adhere to high ethical standards.
Computer proficient in San Diego Immunization Registry Software at an expert level (ability to train others on the software).
Experience with educational programs in the community and evaluating effectiveness of these programs as they relate to quality control and high academic standards.
Knowledge of current immunization schedule and proven ability to accurately assess U.S., Mexican, military or other immunization records including abstracting data from manual or automated medical record.
