The Nancy Thompson Library of Kean University is undergoing a transformation utilizing innovative technologies, including the use of unique mobile apps and cloud based information systems customized for the individual user, providing real time notification of academic, scholarly resources as well as campus activities. We seek a creative manager with a vision to help redefine the role of academic libraries to prepare students for challenges of the 21st century.
Under the supervision of the Director, the Managing Assistant Director provides managerial support for the Learning Commons; manages day-to-day activities in the Learning Commons related to Digital Library Services, Learning Support Services and general operations; participates in the development of goals, policies and procedures with other staff; and does related work as required. This position requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Work schedule is assigned according to shifts/rotations to cover 24/7 facility and service operations and may vary by academic and calendar year.
Operations Management includes the Kean USA campus, as well as other programs/divisions at Kean Ocean, Kean Highlands and Wenzhou-Kean University, in China. This includes potential travel to and assignments of work at other locations.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience working in an institution of higher education or an equivalent business-setting is required. Degree specialty in Management, Business or a related field; Certification or Graduate level coursework; and experience providing student support services and supporting Digital Library functions is preferred. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
