Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit Institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, seeks applicants for a full time, non tenure-track position in Technical Theatre in the Theatre Program in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts housed in the College of Arts and Sciences.
TEACHING: The successful candidate will teach courses in the theatre program and in the general education curriculum; design lighting, sound and/or special effects for the theatre program's four main stage productions; and mentor students in lighting, sound, and/or special effects design and execution. Additional duties may include other teaching assignments in one's area of expertise.
RESEARCH/CREATIVEENDEAVOR: The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research/creative agenda. This may include activities in the theatre profession or in closely related fields. The specific level and type of creative endeavor expected is to be negotiated at time of hire with the department chair.
SERVICE: Attendance at departmental and program meetings is expected; attendance at University and College events is expected. Service on appropriate departmental, college or university committee(s) is at the discretion of the candidate and the department chair. Service in the community and/or the profession is encouraged.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: The candidate shall have a master's degree in an appropriate area of technical theatre. The candidate should be comfortable teaching students of all levels including theatre majors and non-majors. At least three years teaching experience is required. In addition, the successful applicant will be a willing collaborator in teaching, research/creative endeavor, and in the production and design processes.
