An Electromechanical Technician is an important member of the IV Solutions Engineering group. This role interfaces with many levels of the company and may collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineering, marketing, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing as well as other cross-functional team members. The Electromechanical Technician assembles, tests, analyzes, modifies and documents prototype and pre-production versions of the electromechanical subassemblies used in Omnicell’s compounding robots.
Assists Engineers in fabricating, assembling, and testing of large-scale electromechanical robotic systems and subsystems.
Fabricates and assembles manual and automated test solutions for testing system level and sub-system level robotic and electromechanical assemblies.
Develops and executes Evaluation Tests, Engineering Verification Tests (EVT) and Design Validation Tests (DVT) for medical equipment/systems with the assistance of Engineers and other technicians.
Evaluates test results, investigates product test failures, analyzes performance problems, identifies root causes, recommends corrective actions, and writes test reports.
Provides technical support to Engineers for research, concept, prototype, and pre-production product development design efforts.
Supports Manufacturing with troubleshooting, testing, and development of automated testing solutions for pilot production and production units.
Supervises the operation, programming, and maintenance of all lab equipment.
Provides support for resolution of customer technical problems, and may include occasional travel to off-site locations, as necessary to evaluate field issues.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to create/read electrical schematics, bills of materials and assembly drawings as well as understand their functions including wire color codes, wire size and torque specifications.
Ability to create, perform and interpret test procedures as well as test reports
Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering specifications and troubleshoot from schematics.
Working knowledge of soldering methods and PCB assembly/rework methods.
Proficient with using common hand tools and power tools.
Capable of wiring, cable prepping and assembly per wiring diagrams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
2 year Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology or high school diploma/GED with military electronics technician training
4+ years of electromechanical technician in a technical or manufacturing field.
Demonstrated experience fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting and testing automated electromechanical and robotic assemblies.
Experience as lead technician for at least one project.
Experience with data acquisition systems such as voltage, current or temperature equipment
Technical understanding of electrical (Microcontrollers, CPLD, Digital / Analog ICs, Sensors, USB, RS232...), electro-mechanical (Motors, Solenoids, Acuators...) and mechanical (Bearings, Slides, Couplers...) components/technologies.
Capable of interpreting complicated drawings and use advanced mathematics as well as a variety of precision measuring/test instruments (Power Supplies, Digital Voltmeters, Oscilloscopes, Calipers, Torque Wrenches, Strain Gauges....).
Working experience with FDA regulated, ISO13485, or other highly regulated environments.
Knowledge of UL/TUV/CSA, FCC/CE standards, and test requirements.
Experience with engineering change management processes.
Experience in LabView, AutoCAD and Electrical / Mechanical drawing packages.
