Join us and start doing your life's best work.The Senior Pharmacy Technician, under supervision of Pharmacy Manager, performs designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling and dispensing of medications, including sterile admixtures and prepackaged or unit dose drugs. In addition, performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of orders for drugs. Directs and schedules technical staff for work activities and provides direction in completing daily responsibilities. This position may also provide minor or initial counseling to technical staff that is required on an immediate basis. This position is full - time (40 hours / week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. Primary Responsibilities: Processes patient orders: uses computer dispensing software to run compound worksheets, labels and delivery tickets per physicians orders. picks appropriate drug, solution and supplies to complete the order. Compounds and labels the orders for the pharmacist to check.Packages the orders and supplies for delivery. May be required to deliver to the order to the patient. Is knowledgeable with regard to the proper use and handling of hazardous medications. Compounds and handles hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations (i.e. USP797).Coordinates and assists in supervising the work flow of the Pharmacy Technicians. Assists with training and completing performance appraisals. Ensures technician staff adherence to departmental policies and procedures. Assists with disciplinary problems, promotions and problem situations. Answers phones in a courteous and timely manner. Attends to customers in a timely manner. Assists in preparation of stat items, investigating and preparing missing medications and serves as a bridges between the customer and the pharmacist. In coordination with Pharmacy Management, reviews schedule to assure staffing is at appropriate levels.Reorders product as necessary to maintain a continuous inventory of medications and supplies. Receives, checks in and restocks medications ordered through wholesaler and other vendors.Compounds sterile drug products. Uses aseptic technique when compounding sterile drug products. Completes accurate documentation of items compounded and repackaged.Is familiar with, and strives to meet, various guidelines and recommendations as put forth by various governing bodies. For example, completes documentation of refrigerator temperatures, IV hood cleaning, equipment maintenance and other activities as required.Performs quality control activities related to sterile compounding and the clean room per company policy.Completes annual quality control and aseptic competency testing of pharmacy compounding staff as required.Works to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, State, Federal, OSHA and other regulatory standards. Follows all pharmacy department policy and procedures. Completes other projects and duties as assigned by Pharmacy management.
Required Qualifications:High School Diploma / GED (or higher)Current and active National Pharmacy Technician Certification1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience1+ years experience with aseptic technique and intravenous solution compounding either in home infusion or a specialty pharmacyKnowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations and drug use.Demonstrated ability in using computer and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and learning new computer programsDemonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook (send emails), Microsoft Word (create basic documents), and Microsoft Excel (create and data entry for basic spreadsheets) to complete work assignmentsAbility to work regularly scheduled shifts within our hours of operation including the training period, where lunches and breaks are scheduled, with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule, and work over-time and/or weekends, as neededPreferred Qualifications:Experience with CPR+ software Repeater Syringe Pump or Pinnacle Solution Pump Experience maintaining inventory Soft Skills: Must be able to communicate and problem solve effectively with a variety of professional disciplines such as hospital staff, physician office staff, nursing services as patients and their families. Must possess both verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills and problem solving skills. Requires independent thinking, excellent communication, listening, writing, and analytical skills. Requires strong organizational, operational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. Physical and Work Environment: Have the manual dexterity, eye hand coordination, fine and gross motor skills and tactile abilities to perform such functions as necessary to scope of practice. Be capable of working with highly technical equipment. Lift 0-10 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally.
