The School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) at Oregon State University is seeking to fill one or more full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month assistant professor positions in Bioengineering to begin September 16, 2018. Higher ranks may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. The School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering provides formal education to undergraduate and graduate students, performs sponsored and unsponsored research, including for the benefit of the State of Oregon, private industry and the federal government, and conducts public service activities. The individual in this position is expected to perform a combination of duties related to teaching and advising in bioengineering, advancing appropriate research and other scholarly activities, and performing service activities. A Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering or closely-related field is required, as is a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion. Duties will support the vision, mission and goals of the School, College and University, contributing ideally to the College of Engineering signature or targeted strategic research areas of precision health, advanced materials, clean energy, robotics, or advanced manufacturing.
Typically requires PhD or terminal degree (Masters for some Extension positions and MLS for Library positions), demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom Extension, or other setting, and develop a research program in the academic discipline/unit.
Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or closely-related field.
Demonstrable preparation and/or potential to teach core courses in the CBEE undergraduate curriculum, such as material & energy balances, transport phenomena, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, as well as introductory and more advanced courses in the bioengineering undergraduate and graduate program curricula.
Life experience and/or education that would broaden our capacity, and evidence of your commitment, to advancing and equalizing undergraduate and graduate student success across individual identities, including but not limited to gender, racial/ethnic categories and socioeconomic backgrounds.
